You know when you think you found something and it’s too good to be true. Thats what I was thinking when I first tried the L’Oréal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara. I had heard some talk that the L’Oréal VLP Mascara was a dupe from one of my favorites Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara and I was wanted to try it out for myself. Mascara is one product that I tend to gravitate more towards high-end. I’m not opposed to trying drug-store brands, I just never found any that really gave me the results that I wanted.
Today on the blog I am sharing my thoughts and feels about this mascara dupe, L’Oreal vs. Too faced.
I am going to list out some of the deets/pros and cons for each and then share my opinion on how this dupe does indeed carry some weight.
Too Faced – Better than Sex Water (BTS) proof mascara-has be my #2 favorite mascara for sometime. I love this mascara for it’s fullness and really the wand.
What it is:
It is a voluptuous volume mascara with a hourglass-shape wand. The wand has long stiff bristles which leave your lashes full and dramatic! One to two coats are the typical application.
Formula
It is formulated without Parabens. It contains film-forming polymers that create a smudge-proof, all day wear. a
Price: $23-25 (depending on where you purchase it)
Pros:
What I really like is the hour glass wand and the pigment of the mascara. It also does add volume to your lashes with one-two applications and is waterproof.
Cons:
Does dry out rather quickly so clumping does occur on the wand making it really hard to apply. The price can also be a little pricey for some.
L’Oréal – Voluminous Lash Paradise- talked about drug store mascara! It was L’Oréal’s first voluptuous volume!
What it is:
It is a voluptuous volume mascara with a semi-hourglass wand and soft wavy bristles. The soft short wavy bristles help to hold the right about of product for each application and their fringe effect help coat, lift, and lengthen the lashes as well. One to two coats are the typical application.
Formula
It is formulated without parabens. It contains film-forming polymers that create a smudge-proof, all day wear. a
Price: $9-7 (depending on where you purchase it)
Pros:
Well everything about this mascara was a pro for me lol. I felt like the biggest pro was that the mascara glided on easily and didn’t clump. Some times I find that the BTS does dry quick and gets clumpy. The other pro is that I found it to actually lengthen my lashes more than the BTS as I was applying it. The last two pros are that it is waterproof and the price!!
Cons:
Unlike BTS, this mascara does contain parabens so if that is a deal breaker this mascara is not for you. No other cons for me.
So my final thoughts…THIS STUFF IS JUST AS GOOD IF NOT BETTER. When testing out both side by side I did find that both formulas are very similar. They both don’t flake and look amazing, but I did notice two differences. 1. I do feel like the BTS dries a little to quick which can get clumpy if you aren’t quick. 2. I feel like the BTS does go on a little thicker. Really, I’m shocked at how much I like the L’Oreal. I am also loving the quality for the price point, I mean $8 dollars vs. $23. It’s a winner for me!!
